NEW BOOK RELEASE - Contemporary Private Law

"This is the 7th year and the 3rd year in which the Legal, Security, Privacy Issues Conference (LSPI) and the International Private Law Conference (IPL) respectively have met within the Legal Conference Series of the International Association of IT Lawyers. It is clear, in looking at the paper submissions for 2012, that an important range of current research is being laid before this meeting. The cross-fertilisation of contacts between early career researchers from many parts of the world is already leading to collaborative work, some of which is finding its way back to the conference in 2012. This is testimony to the importance of getting out and articulating one's research. I warmly welcome the rapid growth of this stream and the high level of contributors from academic institutions and research centres located both far and near." - Prof. Steve Saxby, University of Southampton.

"This is the 3rd International Private Law Conference hosted within the International Association of IT Lawyers Conference Series. From the outset, the standard set by the organisers, the stature of participants and the standard of papers presented have ensured that the International Private Law Conference has been established as an important event on the legal calendar for any lawyer whose field of expertise falls within the broader domain of private law. The Conference Series which run concurrently, as well as the broad range of topics covered in the various conferences allow participants to interact with colleagues across a wide variety of subjects. This allows for the sharing of thoughts and ideas across subjects in a way which no other conference permits. No subject exists in isolation and the opportunity to interact with researchers on fundamental rights, forensics, intellectual property, cyber law, maritime law, alternative dispute resolution, contracts, trade law, child law and other topics at the same event, provides a unique and stimulating environment for young and experienced researchers alike. The range of topics covered by the papers contained in this volume and the number of participants sharing their research, attest to the success of this 3rd International Private Law Conference." - Professor Steve Corneliu, University of Pretoria.

"A year ago Steve Saxby, Professor of IT Law and Public Policy, University of Southampton, wrote a narrative about the work of IAITL. I want to echo his comments and add my own. The papers in this book represent scholarly contributions to private law. They reflect the authors' desire to share thoughts with academics, policy makers, judges, and industry representatives who make norms for us all. Young, old, and seasoned researchers appear in this book.
